Sewing at Round Lake Retreat

On my table was a kit to make a draw string bag. I said I have lots of patterns
but never made any. A friend said Lucille you make it right now. And look it is
beautiful and I even put fancy stitching at the top

This is the next thing. I sewed with 5 gold fish appliqued on took me all day to sew it together.
Those green and yellow corner stones  16 of them.

I had bought this kit at Fields Fabric in Kalamazoo, Mi. to make Fishy Fishy Runner for my son who is a great fisherman and he has gold fish in his 2 ponds in his yard.
Now I just have to layer and quilt it so he can enjoy it.

One day I quilted all these pot holders
and the next day was spent putting on the binding

I had a wonderful time sewing and meeting new  and old  friends.
The food and fellowship was great no dishes or cooking to do for me.

LABOR DAY HISTORY

Labor day is one of those holidays like Columbus Day or President;s Day. You don't really celebrate them, but you have them because it means a day off. It also represents the end of summer. It's the big weekend for the last cook out. Public pools close. We put out white cloths and shoes away and start pulling out our sweaters and boots. What is Labor Day really supposed to be about?? It's a day  to celebrate workers. On September 5, 1882, Union leaders decided to have a labor festival, including a parade. Only a few people showed up on the morning of the 5th, but by the end of the day over 10,000 came and marched in the parade.Oregon was the first state to declare it a holiday in 1887, and it was soon followed by New York. It became an official national holiday in 1896 under President Grover Cleveland. While it's not as talked abut as the Macy's Day Parade , many cities in the country do still have parades on Labor Day, I HOPE YOU HAD A BEAUTIFUL DAY AND A WONDERFUL FALL.

64 YEARS OF HAPPINESS

June 14 was  my 64 years of marriage life. So I got up and rode my exercise bike for 1/2 hour while
I watched the weather channel. Decided I'm not going to cook or do dishes today. So I picked to go
to Huddles for Breakfast had sausage biscuit gravy. Then Dick and I went for a 2 mile walk in Creston Park.  Then we watered the garden with 2 gallon jugs each  by that time Dick picked to
go to Red Lobster for Lunch. Then we water the garden some more and Dick went to Popeyes and
brought Chicken home for Dinner. I mixed up some rolls to bake since I was out of bread. My daughter and son in law came up for a visit with watermelon. So I had a day with no COOKING and just a few dishes from the roll baking. Then I enjoyed reading on my library book.
