Best Birthday Ever

What a wonderful  birthday I had this year. Eric took me to Red Lobster in Fairlawn, Clark gave  us a Sumbean heated Mattress Pad, Dick took me to Red Lobster in Wooster, Elaine had a Taco Salad Dinner with I mean everything. Pat  Hall gave  me Sexy Ryon P'Js. Elaine & Jim gave me 2 neighties . Phyllis Hanzie gave me the Famous Hanzie  Chocolates. Then  to set it off Eric came with Coffee, macaroni, Canned Chicken, eggs and a box of Candy. Now I know Eric's loves Macaroni Salad  he said he didn't want me to run out and he said the chicken makes the best stir fry.

Pumpkin Pot Holder & mug rug

I spent Novermber 4-6 with Parkview church  Quilters,ETC retreat at Round Lake. I took a class with Kathy Ott who showed us how to make pot holders, place mats and table runner.
Picutre here is the pot holders I made and a little mug rug I made there. I also worked on my Christmas Stitchery Banner and did the Novermber Block of  Little Miss Shabby and the friendship bag pictured  below.  I also took 2 other classes one on snap purses by Marilyn Nisius and a signature block swap by Sally Kitchen. I had a great weekend with new and old friends and wonderful spiritual  fellowship. This was my third year to go.

Friendship Bag

I made this friendship bag to put crayons, coloring book, play makeup, and books for a pre Kindergarden little girl that is homeless staying with friends from Bridgeport, Ohio. I got her name from Mountain Vision Christmas Request. I had fun making it for a sweet little girl.

4 Coasters for Fall

These are 4 coasters I sewed  which my friend Pat gave me cut out and all ready to sew.

Why I named my blog Lucy Sews Everyday

Dawn of  As Sweet As Cinnamon wanted to know our names and why we named our blog  what we did. I choose Lucy Sews Everyday because I do sew everyday which includes either  washing fabric,  pressing, cutting ,sewing ,or dreaming of what I want to sew.   I don't feel right to go to bed without stitching something. If I just sew for 15 minutes.

PeLee Island, Canada Vacation

This is the cottage we stayed in for a week. We went swimming every day. Walked to Fish Point picked up Beach glass, pottery,  ship wreck coal and Dick found 83 Lucky Stones. We also went to the Light House.   Also saw 16 snakes  but they are tame and not dangerous. They come out from under stones and crawl around. Saw 20,000 phesants on the farm also many wild turkeys on every road. So much to see and do there. Took the ferry from Sundusky, Ohio.Taking 2 hours and hitting 8 ft. waves going over.  My son Clark and Donna
gave me a craft necklace made on  PeLee Island as soon as I got off the ferry as a welcome.

These are the rocks in front of the deck to protect the cottage from the waves from Lake Erie  when there are storms.

This is the sunrise at 700am each morning.

Hot Pepper Wall Hanging

This is the hot pepper Wall Hanging that Bev Karaiskos had a work shop on this pattern. I had to wet the material with water  and wad it up in a ball and put rubber bands around it and let it dry.  It took over a week to dry.  The material was all wrinkled. Then I layed it out to cut out the peppers. There are thirty and very wrinkled. I gave it to my son Clark because he loves to make salsa. I hand quilted it.

Garden Produce

I've been busy with all the garden produce. I have froze 40 cups of asparagus soup,52 cups of sliced carrots,
28 Cups of Broccoli & Carrots, 40 snack bags of sliced onions, and so far have canned 20 pints of green beans and 25 pints of spiced red beets. Been enjoying cherry tomatoes each day but the real ox heart tomato is going to be ripe this week end. It is the first tomato that was on the plants, I've been keeping and eye on it as it is yellow looking turning orange and will soon be ready for that hamburger sandwich. We have over 50 tomato plants so hope to have a lot to can. Our corn was damaged in the rain storm blew it down clear flat.. My husband tied some of it up to stakes hope it will be okay. We have enjoyed round zucchini squash and yellow crook neck squash. Have a lot of red kidney beans that will soon be ready.
